Hi folks; Weather is sunny with about 10 knots of breeze. We will arrive in Cabo San Lucas early Saturday morning where a majority of our guests will be flying home. From a skippers view I found returning to Clipperton quite fun, rewarding and yet challenging. There are many times when you fish Clipperton that it can be quite simple because you just go from bird school to bird school and make a great catch. On this trip having been here many times proved valuable. We caught very few fish on bird schools and conditions looked very poor. Most all of the fish we caught were related to structure and times of day and then of course the luck factor is always an important role. When things are slow anchoring the boat in the surf line and seeing anglers catch 15 to 25 pound grouper and Blue Star jacks is fun to watch yet quite nerve racking. I believe I have been to Clipperton at least 15 times and I am looking forward to returning. We are scheduling a Clipperton adventure in late March of 2014. Tuna and Wahoo are a high priority but the skiff fishing and going ashore are also at the top of the list. Please be aware that while skiff fishing is wide open action, 99.5% of all fish are released. There were three ladies on board this trip and I know all of them would go again if given the opportunity. The photos I have seen amongst the anglers and taken by Big "D" are phenomenal. The atoll is truly a remarkable place and should be on everyone bucket list. Highlights of the trip: (1) Robert Ramirez his first over 300, weighing 339 pounds. He has been working at it for 40 years. (2) Tom Neuman 245 pound, personal best. (3) The smiles and enthusiasm on the faces of those returning from skiff fishing. (4) Potential world record Blue Star Jack caught by Kathy Rounds. (5) Roy Rose and Judy Montagues team work in landing the last tuna to come aboard at 270 pounds.
