The fishing at Mazatalan was slow this week

Very slow on anglers this past week and the fishing results were equally as slow, albeit, the boats did average a couple of dorado per day fished; enough for an excellent fresh fish dinner and more. The water temps are very good for this area but the clarity has diminished from dirty green inshore to an almost clean green in the offshore waters. While the dorado don't mind that clean green water, the billfish shy away from it, especially the blacks, blues and stripers. The overall fish counts for 6 days fishing in the offshore waters reflected 14 dorado and 2 days for the inshore super pangas reflected 15 dorado. Most of the fish caught were in the 12-15 lb. ranges with an occasional 20-pounder in the mix.

Mazatlan Climate: Mostly sunny and warm days with a few intermittent clouds and temps that ranged from 65 nights to 90 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Mostly a calm week with a single day of 10-20 mph surface wind that chopped up the waters and temps that held fast in the 83 inshore to 85 offshore ranges.

Best Fishing Areas: The buoys are producing most of the dorado with an occasional larger dorado taken in the offshore areas.

Best Lure/Bait: Live bait best at the buoys but a few fish being taken on the slow trolled rigged baits.

Bait Supply: Very good for this area with excellent live bait availability and fresh caught dead rigging baits.
