The report from Intrepid on Monday, June 11 said, "Today we were blessed with absolutely beautiful offshore weather, light overcast with calm seas. Although we did get on top of some bluefin in the early morning, they did not respond. We spent the rest of the morning covering good water in search of bluefin with no success. On a very encouraging note, we found a few different spots of open water yellowtail in our travels and there was a good volume of fish on a couple of these stops. We released all of the yellows we hooked today as they are a little small for what we will be looking for in the way of yellowtail on this trip. The yellowtail we saw today would be perfect for our local fleet and I am sure that this fish will be in our local waters a little later in the summer. We finally got a shot at bluefin in the early afternoon and we had a small spot that hung with the boat for a little over an hour. It was typical bluefin where you had to finesse a bait away from the boat to get a bite. We had one or two fish hooked most of the drift and these fish were in the 20 to 30 pound range. Gorgeous fish that were spiked and bled immediately before they went down in the RSW well. They will be perfect for sushi on Fathers Day. It seemed like this bluefin was down today so we are currently traveling further south to fish for yellowtail."
