Hello Pacific Queen Anglers,

The the offshore scene has taken off. Several boats over the weekend had excellent fishing 110 miles from home, well within 1.5 day range. Limit style fishing on kelp paddy Yellowtail was had by every boat in the zone with some Blue Fin Tuna mixed in. Tuna scores ranged from 3 to 15 a boat and weighed up to 30 lbs. Not huge numbers on the Tuna but either way great sign for things to come. The Yellowtail averaged 10 lbs. and there were some that weighed up to 20 lbs. This is great news and we are excited to get down there and make a catch. Our first 1.5 day trips leaves this Friday the 22nd. I have already made it a definite Go! With plenty of fish around to make a catch we have decided it is time to get offshore and get this season started.

We spent our last couple of trips at the Coronado Islands. We have seen less Yellowtail the last couple of trips. Monday we caught one 30 pounder and Saturday we caught two. Although we have seen and caught less Yellows we have still enjoyed our days at the Islands. Yesterdays trip was capped off by a wide open bite on Barracuda which provided tons of fun for everybody on board. For those fishing the surface iron a Barracuda was hooked on almost every cast. It definitely made for an exciting end to our day. Along with Barracuda our counts have consisted of tasty Sculpin, Rock Cod, and a few Calico Bass.

This week we will be wrapping up our local island trips. Monday through Thursday we will offer island trips. These most likely will be our last island trips of the year. Starting Friday night we will be going offshore. We have a ton of trips to choose from in the upcoming months and we hope to be out on the water with you all very soon.
