Sierra heat has been on for sometime and driven the trout deeper to seek relief. It has slowed the bite but if you know what you're doing there's always fish for your creel. DFG has done a good job so far and fishing is fair to good. If you know me, you know I'm straight up without exaggeration and will tell you exactly if there is a bite or not. The wind came in early this morning and has been gusting on and off most of the day making fishing a bit difficult from a boat.

Salmon Peach Power Bait has been the bait for the week, followed by power worms in pink, of course don't expect that to last more than a day or so, fish are similar to women, a bit on the fickle side. Hot lures have been red/gold Tomas Bouyant, red fire-stripe Hot Shots, small gold Kastmaster, and spin a lures in gold with red dots.

Fish and Game has problems but is handling the situation, maybe not in the numbers as last year, but with the mud snail in the hatchery at Hot Creek they are having to bring in fish from northern and southern California hatcheries to fulfill their obligation from the legislative action of AB7.

Tim Alpers stocked his world famous Rainbows and 200 browns on the 29th, and the tubers were in "hawg"? heaven. We are not charging for launching your tube, but if you wish to make a donation to the brown trout program for Little Virginia it is welcome.

Ben Zinn of Lake Arrowhead caught two nice Alpers weighing in at 5/5oz and 3/13oz on a lure along with Ed Holmes of Whittier also on a lure at 4 lb 7 oz and two nice 2 lb browns.

Fly line addicts have been using midges, emergers and black Doc's Twin Lakes Special size 12, a few are tugging larger woolly's, and some great action on Parachute Adams if you're into dries. See you on the water.

Virginia Lakes Resort is located near the top of Conway Summit between Mono Lake and Bridgeport, CA. We have everything you need to enjoy the Eastern Sierra. Check out our WEBSITE.
