http://www.fishingvideos.comSkipper Jeff DeBuys docked Independence at Pt. Loma Sportfishing September 15, after a seven-day Young's Tackle adventure with 27 anglers.
"We found decent offshore fishing," said Jeff, "with some premium yellowfin and lots of schoolies. We fished below for most of the tuna. They were up to 40 pounds. We got a few bluefin, too, in 83-degree water. I guess you can take everything you thought you knew about fishing and throw it away; bluefin in 83 degrees!"
Mac McLeod of Lakewood won first place for his 42-pound yellowfin tuna. He said he bagged it with a sardine on a 4/0 Mustad hook. He fished with 50-pound Izorline fluorocarbon and 50-pound Daiwa spectra on a Talica 12 reel and a Calstar 700 H rod.
Rick Williams of Belleville, MI won second place for a 41.6-pound tuna, and Bob Brigham of Redondo Beach tied him with an identical yellowfin tuna.
