Bill Cavanaugh docked Intrepid at Pt. Loma Sportfishing September 25, after an eight-day trip with 25 anglers sponsored by Fisherman's Warehouse with chartermaster Eric Kaii. "We had near-limits of yellowtail and yellowfin tuna," said Cavanaugh to dock reporter Bill Roecker. "The water we fished in was 75 to 78 degrees, and we also had really good marlin fishing. They'd come right into the corner all lit up, right with the yellowfin. We hooked marlin every day. It was bitchin', and we released 'em all."

Greg Gillis of Escondido won first place for a 49-pound yellowfin he caught with a mackerel on a 4/0 Hayabusa hook and 40-pound P-Line. He said he used 60-pound Line One spectra backing on an Avet LX reel and a Calstar 6460 H rod.

Terry Lamb of Tracy won second place for a 38.8-pound tuna, and Scott Jones of La Crescenta won third place for a 27-pound dorado. A troll-caught 37-pound dorado taken by Robert Brown stood in the lineup with the winners.
