We spent the day offshore in flat calm seas and sunny skies looking for that "Magic" kelp. The morning was busy getting steady jig strikes on school sized yellowfin and a few dorado. There was a mid day slow period where we basically ran out of the life, but late in the afternoon we found the kelp that we were looking for and it was good fishing for everyone on tuna and big dorado. It's always nice to be rewarded for the many long hours that the crew looks at a blank ocean just for that one moment when you see the kelp in the distance. The Phenix Rods/Blackwater anglers did an outstanding job working together to keep the tangles at a minimum.
