"We got off to a fantastic start today," said the report from Shogun October 22. "Mid-afternoon we got an absolute ripper on 12 to 40-pound yellowfin. For two and a half hours it was as fast as it gets with every single bait, jig, bare hook or gaff dropped in the water was immediately smashed by a greedy tuna. By the time the dust settled and all the blood was washed off everyone aboard had more than enough tuna icing down in the fish hold.

"In the morning before our afternoon madness we scratched up 40 nice mahi, along with one nice wahoo for lucky angler Steve Towne. He made the catch using 35-pound Blackwater flourocarbon and a J-hook with a fly-lined sardine. Tonight we plan to head further south and try for yellowtail tomorrow."
