Last Plant: November 6, 500 lbs. of Trout were planted from Mt. Lassen.
On November 8th, 200 lbs. of trout were planted from Fish & Game.
Water Temperature: 61 degrees
The water level is dropping down to winter levels. The visibility is minimal and the trout bite is on. Shore fishermen are catching limits on PowerBait, Panther Martins, Roostertails and miniature swimbaits. Black Bass are biting Rattle Traps and Bucktail Panther Martins. The Striper bite has slowed but large schools of Stripers have been spotted at the lower narrows. The Stripers are biting on anchovies, sardines and mackerel. Catfish have been biting achovies and mackerel.
Doc Al Hurwitz gave this Report:
The weather has been a little tough with wind and rain. I caught 3 Smallmouth Bass at Heron Bay. I was using Panther Martins while trolling in a water column from 20 to 30 feet. The fish seem to be 10 to 15 feet below the surface. The fish weighed from 3/4'sof a lb to 1.75 lbs. Since the lake has turned over the bass are scattered but can be caught near rock walls or points. I was trolling at a speed that was 1.8 to 2.2 mph.
Trolling for trout is still difficult but that bite should improve over the next few weeks as the water temperature stabilizes and they take up their customary haunts around the lake.
