Bill Cavanaugh docked Intrepid at Pt. Loma Sportfishing November 21 after an 11-day trip with 25 anglers and chartermaster Philip Hein of San Mateo.

"This was an incredibly nice group," he said. "They were like family. They really got along well together. Once I stopped fishing just to watch how they worked together at the rail."

Ken Rivest of Juneau, AK won first place for a 65.6-pound yellowfin tuna. He said it ate a sardine on a 1/0 ringed Owner Super Mutu hook on 40-pound Seaguar Premier fluorocarbon and 60-pound Line One spectra. He fished with an Accurate BX-2 30 reel and a Calstar 765 H rod.

Joel Hewatt of Walnut Creek won second place for his 60-pound tuna. Ying Lee of Diamond Bar took third for his 53.2-pound tuna. Joseph Talasy of Bellflower, 96, posed in the lineup shot with his best tuna of the trip, assisted by chartermaster Hein.

Skipper Cavanaugh summed up the trip: "We had really good wahoo fishing, and a decent catch of yellowfin tuna on The Ridge."
