Captain Temo Verboonen reported in for the past 2 weeks and reflected that the fishing had moved farther offshore during the full moon phase, out to 17-20 miles or so, and that the bite was finished y 10:00 A.M. It was like the fish evaporated from the area and left the anglers with some very slow results after 10am. The inshore fishing was about the same and the roosterfish had apparently moved to "Antenas", about 30 miles from the Bay, where the bait was located.

This past week, the water changed color a little, but the bite was much better for both, dorados and sailfish and they had moved back in closer to the Bay, in the 5-7 miles areas. The bite remained early still and the better bite remained right at daybreak to about mid-morning and then slowed to a lucky bite here and there. The inshore fishing remained difficult and the bigger schools of roosterfish were found near Puerto Vicente Guerrero, south of Zihuatanejo Bay some 30-plus miles or so. While lots of roosterfish, they were stubborn biters and would not take the lures at all, preferring live bait only. If you had a good supply of live bait, the bite in this area was very good for some quality sized roosters.

IZ Climate: Mostly sunny & warm days with pleasant evenings. Temps ranged from 70 nights to 86 daytime highs with light and variable surface breezes.

Sea Conditions: Remains very good with light & variable tropical surface breezes and good sea temps that are holding stable at 83-84 degrees from inshore to offshore, with a tinge of off-colored water this past week.

Best Fishing Area: Close to the Bay, 5-7 miles from the entrance for the dorado and sailfish. Puerto Vicente Guerrero for the roosterfish and the inshore fishing, (requiring a 10-hour day due to the distance to the area).

Best Bait/Lure: Rigged trolling baits were doing just fine for the dorado and the sailfish close to Zihuatanejo but live bait was a must for the roosterfish and the inshore fishing.

Bait Supply: Continues to be plentiful in this area for both live bait and fresh caught baits for rigging.
