What a mess at Del Valle Lake this week. The lake cam up 18 feet. The runoff from the storm rushing through the Inlets to the lake has caused a lot of debris at the south end of the lake. Fishing the east and west shorelines is almost impossible. The water has virtually no visibility because of the debris floating from the boathouse south to the Inlet. The good news is the fish are still biting above the Narrows and Hetch Hetchy is still clear at this time. So if you are fishing by the Dam and find some clear shallow areas the Trout should be there. Use Mice Tails, PowerBait and egg/worm combos. The Catfish are still biting on Anchovies and the best area is by Tarantula Cove and north of the Hetch Hetchy campgound.

Dr. Al's Report
Abbey Lev and I gave it our best shot trolling all of the lake today and only came up with a few fish (One Rainbow and 2 Smallmouth). The surface temperature was 55 degrees and we thought the fish would be hitting regular and jointed Rapalas in a variety of colors, in about 5-10 feet of water, but that was not the case. The hits came only after switching to Panther Martins and Rooster Tails with trout scent applied. The fish were hitting in clearer water down about 10 feet below the surface.

A message fro trollers: with the lake down about 15 feet and getting colder as well as stained from the recent rains, find clearer water, lake the Dam area. Then use smaller presentations that have a vibration (Like small spinners). Use scent on the lures, and troll slowly in an "S" pattern (in and out). Trolling will improve with the lake rising and when the water clears. Bait fishermen should contunue to do well fishing for trout.

Happy Holidays!
