http://www.truckeeriveroutfitters.comFlows have been holding steady at 31-33 CFS for a few weeks now. There is still a little ice around the edges especially in the slower moving water downstream in Nevada. It gets really cold in the Bridgeport areas this time of year and overnight lows commonly are in the single digits. There is no hurry to get down there too early in the day. The best fishing is late morning to early afternoon. Let the sun get on the water a bit and warm things up. The fish like just about everywhere else are in the deeper, slower pools and runs. The flows are low and fish get stacked up this time of year. A stealthy approach, smaller flies and lighter tippet is a must. Small Baetis nymphs in sizes 18-22 are a good bet for a dropper with a little bigger one like a size 16 Pheasant Tail as the lead fly. This is a good time of year to be "High Sticking" for sure. If you are going to use an indicator use one that blends in more. Big thing-a-ma-bobbers are not the way to go right now.
