Fly fishing remains very good on the Truckee. The flows remain perfect from the Town of Truckee down to Reno. The best times to fish are in the mornings before it gets hot and then again the last hour or two before dark. In the mornings nymphing has been the best. Try indicator nymphing with a Golden Stone and a small dropper like a Caddis Pupa. The key is to get down to the fish. Do not be afraid to use split shot on your set up as well. The fish should be holding in the faster water where there is more available oxygen. In the evenings try nymphing with caddis and little yellow stone fly patterns until the sun goes down and then switch to dries and go hunting for rising fish.
