http://www.silverlakeresort.netIt has been cooler and breezy this past week but it has not slowed the fishing down at Silver Lake. The key was to get out early before the wind picked up or brave the colder, windy conditions and be rewarded. Just ask Al LeClare, pictured above of San Diego who brought in a whopper of a Rainbow weighing in at 6 pounds 5 ounces. Al was braving the wind in the afternoon, fishing from shore using Garlic Power Bait when he had the hook up of the year so far. Shore fishing has seen some good results all week with Anglers using mostly Power Baits, Garlic and Garlic Pinch worms, Salmon Peach flavors or worms. Out on a boat guys have done very well using a Thomas Buoyant Gold / Red or a small brown pattern spoon. Flies are still hit and miss as we still are getting a cold night mixed in with some warm ones. Try using a Sierra Bright dot or a Flying Black Ant when the nights are warmer. The Trout Law Round Up Fishing Derby is still going on at Silver Lake with two tagged trout still in the waters to be caught with the chance to win some great prizes. The weather looks like it is going to start to warm up by the middle of next week so look for some good fishing as we head into June.
Fish Of The Week:
Pictured Above: Al LeClare Jr,. of San Diego landed that 6 pound 5 ounce Rainbow from the shore of Silver using Garlic Power Bait
Photo #1: Rob Nelson of Valley Center caught a nice 5 pound 1 ounce Rainbow from the shore of Silver Lake using Salmon Eggs
Photo # 2 & 3: Bob Oves of Buena Park landed two great fish a few days apart one weighing 2 pounds 7 ounces and the other weighing 4 pounds 8 ounces caught on Hatchery Pellet and Salmon Peach Power Baits both from shore
Photo #4: The Gorman brothers of La Canada and Glendale had a great day - compared to their brother Steve who tripped on his way to the lake and broke his shoulder, sorry Steve - but the brothers pulled through and redeemed their family name when Ted brought in a 3 pound 11 ounces and Carl hauled in a 6 pound 1 ounces saving the day for the Gorman Crew. Both caught their Rainbows on Gulp Alive Pinch Crawlers.
