Report Date:
http://www.silverlakeresort.netFishing at Silver lake and Rush Creek was a little on the slower side this week due in large to some high winds earlier in the week that made for some really tough fishing. The winds have died down this weekend and the fishing has picked up. Anglers have talked about plenty of fish this week but much smaller in size than they are accustomed to. DFG stocked again this past Monday with another 800 pound load of catchable and we are expecting a nice load of Alper's trout before the 4th of July holiday week. Anglers talked of good results from the shore using Berkley Power Baits with Garlic or Salmon Egg Red. Taking worms deep in the lake has also shown good results. Anglers using lures this week spoke of any lure with some bright red, pink or orange colors. Thomas Buoyant in those colors as well as Tasmanian Devils in Pink and Red showed good results.
On Rush Creek and the inlets and outlets to Rush Creek showed good catching using a Flying Black Ant, Sierra Bright Dot or a California Mosquito in the fly category, worms or salmon eggs also worked well in the creek.
Look for the fish to start to go deeper in the water as the surface temperature of the lake sits at about 56 degrees at the surface this week. On a side note, anglers talked about some of the back country lakes doing really well this week also. Some anglers caught 40 - 50 small Brook trout up at Fern and Yost lake this week, pinching down the barbs and catching Brookies every cast. Well worth the mile and a half hike.
Fish Of The Week:
Aaron Cordell of Rancho Cucamonga landed a nice 3 pound 3 ounce Rainbow from the shore of Silver Lake using Salmon Egg Red Power Bait.
Young Beau Betten of Riverside nailed a nice 2 pound 14 ounce Rainbow from a boat on Silver Lake using Salmon Peach Power Bait.
Bill Earley of Lancaster caught a beautiful 2 pound 8 ounce Cut Throat on the shore of Silver Lake.
