Catfish is the best bite right now. Kitties to 6 lbs. have been weighed in at the Marina. Cut mackerel has been the best bait for the Kitties all over the lake. Although the best locations have been Jack Rabbit flats, Johnson Bay and all around Arrowhead Island.

The top water bite for Bass has subsided. Both Largemouth and Smallmouth have developed a case of lock jaw. Live nightcrawlers seem to be the only thing that works.

There have been quite a few Crappie being taken while drifting the East End of the lake. Jigs tipped with mealworms have been the way to go for Crappie.

The Trout bite picked up this past week. The best approach has been to troll or drif worms at 30' to 50' near the dam. Some very nice hold-over fish have been caught. Bow fishing has been fair early and late by the dam or in Santa Cruz Bay.

Report Date:

The Bass bite has been on in the early morning and late afternoon hours. Topwater baits such as Buzzbait, Poppers and Spooks have worked well. Later in the day jigs, drop shots and texas rigs have produced. The warmer water temperatures have caused the trout to locate at 40' to 50' in the main lake water channel. Dodger/Crawler and Dodger/Needlefish combos have been effective for some nice hold-over fish. Catfish action has been good at Arrowhead Island, the narrows and Cachuma Bay.......

Report Date:

Both largemouth and smallmouth bass bit well last week at Cachuma Lake on top waters as well as shallow cranks and most shad imitations. Trout turned on a bit as well and leadcore fished at 5 or 6 colors with Rapalas seemed most productive. Although drifting 'crawlers by the dam accounted for some nice hold-over fish. The Catfish bite seems to be coming on with cut mackerel and packaged dough baits in the back of coves. Crappie were hitting mini jigs and mealworms......
