The hot weather has most of the fish running for cover, except the catfish. The kitties came in from all over the lake last week. The best locations were Cachuma Bay and behind Arrowhead Island. Cut mackerel was the bait to use and accounted for catfish up to 8 lbs. Other productive areas were Johnson's Bay and Clarks'.

Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass have retreated to 20' to 25'and have been tough to catch on artificials. The use of nightcrawlers gives the angler a better shot at the Bass.

The Crappie bite has been the best in Santa Cruz Bay. Like the Bass they have been located in 20' to 30' in the water column. They are biting crappie jigs tipped with mealworms.

Trout fishing has been fair for those who are able to troll at 40' to 50' near the dam. Dodger/crawler combos worked the best for the hold-over Rainbows. Bow fishing for Carp has been fair although it takes some work. The best bet has been to follow the banks.
