CATFISH:
The final two Catfish stocks for 2013 are slated for October 11th and 18th. Come catch your limits of whiskerfish before the Trout take over.

TROUT:
Opening Weekend is scheduled for November 2nd and 3rd. Santee Lakes will be stocking 2,500 lbs. of Rainbows for opening weekend including tagged Trout worth cash and prizes and HUGE Trophy Trout! Mark your calendars and make your camping or cabin reservations today.

Recipe of the Week:
Barbequed Catfish

Ingredients
• 4 (7-ounce) catfish fillets, skinned, de-boned
• 4 tablespoons dry rub
• 6 tablespoons cooking oil
• 1/2 cup hickory chips
• 1/2 cup water
• 1 cup Tartar Sauce

Directions

Preheat the grill.
Coat each catfish fillet with the dry rub. Dip the fish into the oil and place the fillets on a hot grill to establish grill marks. After establishing grill marks and the fillets release from the grill, place the catfish into a smoker. Smoke for 2 minutes using the hickory wood chips. Add water to the chips and steam the fish for another 2 minutes. Remove the catfish from the smoker and serve immediately with tartar sauce.

** No California State Fishing License required to fish at Padre Dam's Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve.

Fishing Permit Fees
Adult (ages 16 and over) $9.00 per day
Junior (ages 7 to 15) $6.00 per day
Second fishing pole stamp $4.00
*One child under 7 may fish for free with a paid adult
