WEEK OF: October 28, 2013

TROUT: 616 Anglers attending this past weekend's Trout Opener. 2,500 lbs. of Rainbow Trout was split into lakes 2, 3 and 4. Fish were caught out of all 3 lakes including plenty of tagged Trout and numerous fish over 5 lbs.!

Jacob Gaitan, pictured above caught the largest Trout over the weekend opener at 10 lbs. This fish was caught out of lake 3 on a mini jig. Jacob wins an Annual Fishing Pass and also qualifies for the April 1st TV drawing.

Steven Pearman, caught the 2nd place Trout at 9 lbs. 8 oz. out of lake 3 on rainbow powerbait. Steven wins a Mongoose Bicycle. TV drawing qualifier.

Kelly Gleghorn caught an 8 lb. 12 oz. Trout out of lake 4 to take 3rd place and wins 2 nights camping. Also qualified for the TV drawing.

Austin Chang, takes 4th place with a 7 lb. 14 oz. out of lake 4 on a kastmaster. Austin wins a Stanley tool set. TV drawing qualifier.

Doug McConnaughey, the 5th place winner caught a 7 lb. 4 oz. Trout out of lake 3. Doug won a Razor Scooter. Doug also caught a tagged Trout and won $25. TV drawing qualifier.

Frank Santiago caught a 5 lb. Trout out of lake 4 on garlic powerbait and gulp nightcrawler. TV drawing qualifier.

Benjamin Espinola caught his limit out of lake 2 on powerbait. Largest 4 lbs. 8 oz.

Tim Atkinson caught a 3 lb. 11 oz. Trout.

Joseph Holland landed a 3 lb. Trout out of lake 3 on yellow PB and orange powerworm. Tagged Trout. Won a rod and reel combo.

Tyler Kay caught a 2 lb. tagged Trout out of lake 3 on powerbait and won $25.

Ambrosia Kleiner, age 7 caught a tagged Trout out of lake 3 and won a Plano tackle bag.
Eddie Hernandez age 11 caught a 2 lb. 6 oz. Trout out of lake 2 on powerbait.

Brian Schiebel caught a tagged Trout out of lake 3 on a jig and won a rod and reel.

Glen Macy caught a tagged Trout out of lake 3 using orange powerbait and won a Plano tackle bag.

Logan Siminoff age 11 caught a tagged Trout out of lake 3 on a kastmaster. Logan won a rod and reel combo. Eli Serrano landed a tagged Trout out of lake 3 and won a fishing net.

Pat Bradford pulled a tagged Trout out of lake 4 and won 2 nights camping.

Jeremy and Jason Wilcox won a rod and reel with their tagged Trout from lake 4.

Beau Lancey caught a tagged Trout out of lake 2 and won a camping lantern.

Jacob Azevedo age 7 caught a tagged Trout out of lake 4 on powerbait. Jacob won 2 nights camping.

Deliverance Peppers caught a tagged Trout out of lake 2 on powerbait and won a Chargers Cooler.

Brandon Avalos reeled in a tagged Trout from lake 3 on garlic powerbait. Won a rod and reel combo.

Ruben Serrano caught a tagged Trout out of lake 3 and won 2 adult and Jr. day fishing permits.

Santee Lakes is open 7 days a week for fishing. Plenty of HUGE Trout and tagged Trout remain to be caught.

Lakes 3, 4, 6 and 7 will all receive Trout on our next stock. Nov. 15th.

Lakes 6 and 7 are reserved for campers so make your camping/cabin reservations today!

** No California State Fishing License required to fish at Padre Dam's Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve.

Fishing Permit Fees
Adult (ages 16 and over) $9.00 per day
Junior (ages 7 to 15) $6.00 per day
Second fishing pole stamp $4.00
*One child under 7 may fish for free with a paid adult
