Fall colors remain on some trees in the shadow of Shasta as we have experienced dry, unseasonably fair weather. A recent light storm brought some much needed rain and some fresh steelhead into the Klamath and Trinity Rivers. The result has been some exceptional catches for our guests including some incredible trips in our second season at the amazing Scott River Lodge. The Klamath River has been steady and good to great, while the Trinity has been technical, good for seasoned anglers, and those paired with savvy guides, but only fair or poor for the less experienced. Most steelheaders are nymphing but those dedicated to the swing continue to find good fishing as well. We expect our fall fish to soon be bolstered by the arrival of our first winter run steelies with downstream reports of good numbers of sizable fish moving upstream.

The Upper & Lower Sac as well as the Pit Rivers remain open year round for those looking to conclude their year trout fishing, while the McCloud, Fall River and Hat Creek closed on November 15th for the season. We've enjoyed some superb hatches and dry fly fishing opportunities for seasoned trophy hunters on the Upper Sac. The Lower Sac has been a bit hit and miss, with a good day followed by a tough one as the easy Salmon spawn and egg bite has been on the wane with a turn towards a nymphing affair, mostly on tiny Blue Wing Olives hatches that can be unpredictable with the tiny flies reducing the rate of fish hooked and landed. Some sizable steelhead on the lower drifts have shown, while the upper floats have seen the greatest pressure but also produced the largest wild Rainbows on average. For a complete report check soon for an updated web post.

Thank you again for your continued support. Please drop us a line if you are headed our way to fish, it would be a pleasure to share all we can about current conditions, set you up with great local guides, or point you in a direction you might most enjoy.

Wishing you and yours the very best of holiday seasons. Hoping your 2014 is a happy, healthy one and filled with good fishing!
