Another fun week by Mother Nature - what a week it was - snow flurries for 4 days (almost another inch of moisture) - then the cool temps and cloudy skies gave way to warm temps with fluffy white clouds and the bluest of blue skies at the Lake - plenty of families spent the weekend pulling out limits and making or reliving memories.

Shore or still fishing (remember we have boats for rent) were the way to go whether you were using NightCrawlers, Salmon Eggs, PowerBait, lures, jigs, a wad of bubblegum - it really didn't matter. Trolling is still a bit on the slow side. Saw a number of anglers weighing their 1-1/2 to 2 pound Rainbows - now that's a nice dinner. Talking about catching a few for breakfast or dinner, Katya & Phillip Fivgas had plenty for a fine meal, as did Jim Johnson & Chris Gaskill (one of the private boats that has made it to the back) and Peter Diaz getting a limit kayaking to the back, Cathy Lynskey caught dinner for her husband Tim and we shall not forget Alisha Wilkie, Joachim Estrada and Chad "the Elusive One" who also had plenty for a fine dinner. Thanks again to the DFG which stocked the Lake on Monday.

We didn't make it down for Mule Days Weekend, but heard it was very well attended - if you made up - the City of Bishop and all the businesses sure do appreciate your presence. Don't forget the next big event is the California High School State Rodeo June 10th thru June 13th - check out the Bishop Chamber of Commerce website for more information. You will not be disappointed in meeting these kids - come on up and support them! http://www.bishopvisitor.com/activitiesCHSRA.php

The Eagles are still hanging around so keep your eyes open. No sign of bears up here yet - but please keep your food and trash picked-up. Speaking of trash - we are not your mothers - please pick-up after yourselves when you're out and about.

Just a couple more feet until the boats will be for rent up front - yup, the Lake is on the rise - slowly, but surely (at least for now). For the time being, we have boats on the back natural Lake - you'll either need to drive (with a high clearance 4-wheel drive short base vehicle) or walk. If you walk, we can take your tackle back to the boats for you. (Liability issues prevent us from taking you!) A big thank you to Bryan for filling in some of the larger holes on the road to the back. Remember to pull off to the side of the road and not just park on the road when going fishing - makes it tough for others and don't forget to pack out what you brought in!

Mother Nature may be done with her antics for a few days - beautiful weather in the forecast for the week - highs in the mid-70's with lows in the high-40's. You can also check out www.weather.gov - enter Aspendell, CA (which is the little community right below Lake Sabrina) in the search field and you'll get the forecast for the higher elevation or take a look at Howard Sheckter, our local weather 'guesser' report at www.MammothWeather.com.

And the SKEETERS are back - the Godzilla-size skeeters - big enough to carry away your first-born - DON'T FORGET THE BUG JUICE and the sunscreen, and dark polarized glasses - the glare off the water is tough on the eyes. And if you have allergies - PACK YOU MEDS - it's tough breathing out there for some - what with runny noses, stuffed noses & watery eyes - believe us - we know!

With the cooler temps last week, the amount of water from the snow run-off shut down dramatically, so much so that the Lake level dropped a few inches causing those that got a bit too close to the Lake to break out their shovels. The good news is that we had a few warm days and the Lake gained back what it lost and a bit more. We just need a few more feet to get our boats up front......
