The Lake is still on the rise - coming up about a foot a day, but alas, the snow is disappearing quite rapidly - may only have a couple of weeks of run-off left - it is what it is and we're happy for what we have!
Catching was back on track, although, at times the DingleBerry Inlet was off and on. Some used NightCrawlers and PowerBait, while others threw lures and jigs - some caught fish other didn't - that's fishing, but all enjoyed their time at the Lake. Trolling picked up for those dragging NightCrawlers or lures around the shoreline. NightCrawlers, PowerBait and lures worked for those sitting on shore being thankful for a day on the Lake. Tim Carnahan had the right combination picking up a 2-2/3 pounder and a 3-1/3 pounder trolling the waters with Sierra Slammers on two different days. Molly Featheringill and son Lance Aubery, both, pulling out limits two days in a row using Thomas Buoyants. Thanks again to DFW for the stocking on Monday.
The California High School State Rodeo finalists are in town (you'll know them by their vests and their polite manners) - the events start June 10th and continue thru June 13th - check out the Bishop Chamber of Commerce website for more information. You will not be disappointed in meeting these kids - come on up and support them! http://www.bishopvisitor.com/activitiesCHSRA.php
If your 4th of July plans included Bishop - the Bishop Volunteer Fire Department's Annual Firework Show will begin at 9pm just after dark at the Bishop Airport. Gates open at 4pm. $20 per car load. Food and Beverage Venders will be on site. For more information on this event Please call (760) 873-5485. Donations can be made to the Bishop Volunteer Fire Dept and would be greatly appreciated!
And Saturday, July 5th is FREE FISHING DAY! Don't need a license on that day to fish, but you do need to abide by all the fishing regulations. If you're not sure what they are, come on in and ask!
Still no sign of bears up at Lake Sabrina yet - but are around - on both sides of the canyon, so where ever you are please keep your food and trash picked-up or they may visit you next.
Still have a chance for a few thunderboomers thru Wednesday - so best pack a poncho. Had a few showers in the back country over the weekend, but nothing at the Lake. Temps are expected to be in the mid 70s and in the high 30s. You can also check out www.weather.gov - enter Aspendell, CA (which is the little community right below Lake Sabrina) in the search field and you'll get the forecast for the higher elevation or take a look at Howard Sheckter, our local weather 'guesser' report at www.MammothWeather.com.
And the SKEETERS are back - the Godzilla-size skeeters - big enough to carry away your first-born - DON'T FORGET THE BUG JUICE and the sunscreen, ponchos and dark polarized glasses - the glare off the water is tough on the eyes. And if you have allergies - PACK YOU MEDS - it's tough breathing out there for some - what with runny noses, stuffed noses & watery eyes - believe us - we know!

The rental boats moved up to the front and the lifejacket and cushion trailer moved down by the boats. The road to the back natural lake is almost under water - what does this all mean - THE LAKE IS ON THE RISE - it's come up about 4 feet from last weekend - woo-hoo and it was a week without snow, a bit breezy, but all in all a great week at the Lake. Catching this week was hit......

Another fun week by Mother Nature - what a week it was - snow flurries for 4 days (almost another inch of moisture) - then the cool temps and cloudy skies gave way to warm temps with fluffy white clouds and the bluest of blue skies at the Lake - plenty of families spent the weekend pulling out limits and making or reliving memories. Shore or still fishing (remember we have boats for rent) were the way to go whether......
