What a weekend - folks all over enjoying the Lake, keeping cool and making memories - even had a few sprinkles. Hope if you made it up - you had a great time. And the Eagle was spotted at the back of the Lake - must have known it was the 4th of July!
Just like last week, catching is off the charts this week - we did have a bit of a lull in the catching during the week, but it picked back up just in time for the weekend. All the Inlets were on fire (you don't just need to head right for the DingleBerry Inlet - expand your fishing horizons and fish other areas) - NightCrawlers, PowerBait, Jigs and Lures were all producing limits. Fishing the rock piles did just as well. Drifting NightCrawlers thru the channels or using the same baits, Jigs and Lures while fishing from shore. Trolling Lures or NightCrawlers caught many a'fish. Thanks again to DFG for the fish on Wednesday.
The Comins Family had a great 3-day weekend - fish after fish - Marla once again bested hubby & son with a 1-3/4 pounder - the boys just couldn't keep up with Mom, snoozing on the couch after lunch before heading back out. Grandpa Patrick Terek had a wonderful time schooling his grandchildren Mariah & Marcus in the fine art of fishing with Thomas Buoyants. Michael Katzman brought 5 teenagers up to the Lake for a bit of fishing and lots of fun memories - bless him.
We've got lots of wildflowers blooming these days - beautiful wild pink roses that smell so very wonderful and red wild penstemons along with purple and pink penstemons. Then there is an abundant of different yellow flowers - not sure what the names of them all are dotting the landscape. Speaking of flowers, Bryan and Rick planted the flower containers on the deck - they look so pretty!
Rick took down the plywood at the front door where Yogi came in last year while making the comment that as soon as he took it down the bear would return - it did, but we're call this one Boo-Boo - think it's a youngster - just took the gut can bag away and got into the recyclables - came back again on Sunday night - hasn't come thru the window - yet.
And the monsoonal weather has hit Lake Sabrina - had a few sprinkles over the weekend and are expecting RAIN SHOWERS thru the week - not sure about next weekend - don't forget your PONCHOS. Temps are expected to be in the upper 70s with the lows in the high 40s - DON'T FORGET YOUR JACKETS! You can also check out www.weather.gov - enter Aspendell, CA (which is the little community right below Lake Sabrina) in the search field and you'll get the forecast for the higher elevation or take a look at Howard Sheckter, our local weather 'guesser' report at www.MammothWeather.com.
And the skeeters are back, so DON'T FORGET THE BUG JUICE and the sunscreen, ponchos and dark polarized glasses - the glare off the water is tough on the eyes. And if you have allergies - PACK YOU MEDS - it's tough breathing out there for some - what with runny noses, stuffed noses & watery eyes - believe us - we know!
One other important item - bug juice, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, cologne, perfume, or any other foo-foo juice is like a fish repellent - if you use any of these items you're basically using fish repellant - you'll need to wash your hands, then apply Bite-On fish attractant or rub your hands in worm dirt or pour some Salmon Egg juice on your hands - anything to get the foo-foo stink off your hands.
