Utah Division of Wildlife

Report Date:

http://wildlife.utah.gov

One angler reported slow fishing from the shore across from the dam using a spinner. The water is very clear and surface temperatures are around 68°F. This is the time of year kokanee start to turn red for the spawn. The fish will gather in the inlets over the next month. Possession of kokanee salmon is prohibited during the spawning run. Please avoid stepping in the spawning beds in the inlets as eggs are deposited there. To protect spawning kokanee populations, Causey and its tributaries are closed to the possession of kokanee salmon with any red coloring from August 15 through 6 a.m. on the last Saturday of September.
