On Jan. 10, there were 12 inches of solid ice on the reservoir. Fishing is hot for small rainbows in the six to ten-inch range. One angler caught a 12-inch brook trout. You could also see trumpeter swans out on the ice. Be prepared for cold, windy conditions. Ice tents are recommended. The road over Monte Cristo is closed. You'll need to access Birch Creek through Woodruff, from either Logan Canyon or Evanston.
