"It was the perfect way to finish the trip with a very good morning of fishing on the large Yellowfin Tuna, perhaps the best biting fish we saw in our three and a half days at Alijos," wrote Red Rooster III skipper John Grabowski October 13.

"This type of big game fishing is not a fast process by any means, it truly takes a lot of patience and perseverance by the passengers and crew over an extended period of time sitting on the anchor for day's and scratching out a quality catch of these beautiful fish.

"Looking back over the past week of fishing we are pleased with the results of the catch we have put on board, classic fall Long Range fishing with exceptional action for multiple species in on the beach and down the ridge with a good opportunity to catch a trophy Yellowfin Tuna at Alijos Rocks along with a few Wahoo.

"The crew and myself would personally like to thank David Rocchi for hosting this fine group of passengers on yet another successful Newell sponsored 10 day fall voyage, we all missed Mr. Richard Hightower this year and look forward to fishing with Richard again in the near future.

"There was free line from Yo-Zuri Hybrid and Yo-Zuri H.D. fluorocarbon available along with Seaguar fluorocarbon, the fluorocarbon proved to be a key element in our catch of the large Yellowfin Tuna from Alijos Rocks. Other sponsoring companies where Catchy Tackle, who provided Spinner Bombs for Wahoo fishing along with Sea Strike Jigs and Yo-Zuri Hydro Mag Trolling lures. Hayabusa Hooks, Hayabusa bait catchers were also provided and everyone on board received a Hayabusa hat and Newell T-Shirts."

Ed Dennis of garden Grove won first place for a 117.8-pound tuna. Rod Morris of Vista won second for a 117.4-pounder, and Don Maquett of Encinitasd was third, for a 117.1-pounder.
