The lake is still in transition from summer to fall so the bite is tough.  The trout have moved closer to the surface and are even breaking the surface frequently in the pursuit of small clusters of shad.  The shad are on the small side, so be sure to down size your bait to match the hatch.  low.  Bass seem to be spread out from deep to shallow water.  The shad are schooled up and there are bass that target these balls of bait.  The tough part about fishing for these fish is there is generally a short window of opportunity where they will be feeding.
