http://norcal.fishreports.comShaver Lake fishing picked up some this past week. Fishing guide Dick Nichols, of Dick's fishing charters, said he has fished with clients 20 of the past 23 days and has seen fishing go from excellent to fair last week. His last two charters at week’s end produced 2 limits each day of mixed trout and kokanee. He said the trout bite has improved for trollers and is a good supplement for the scattered kokanee. Kokanee were found from 20 to 72 feet deep in the island area. Orange or pink Apex lures tipped with corn behind Captain Jack's CJ Dodgers is still working best for him. On the side poles at 20 to 22 feet deep are Trout Busters tipped with corn and crawler behind weighted Mountain Flashers. Many regular trollers are reporting one or two limits per boat. Nichols says that trollers who are having success are venturing into other areas of the lake in search for kokanee and must try various levels and lures to attract the kokanee. The trout seemed to be mostly in the triangle of the island, Point and Edison Camp. Bank fishing has improved with DF&W plants. Power Bait or crawlers in the roads 1 and 2, Point, dam and Edison Camp areas doing best. Dick Nichols (559) 841-3317; Shaver Lake Marina (559) 841-3324; Shaver Lake Sports (559) 841-2740
