http://www.fishingvideos.comEric Weldele docked Qualifier 105 on November 1 after a 10-day trip with 22 anglers. The trip docked at Point Loma Sportfishing and was sponsored by Berkley/Vanderburg, for the 12th year, said Stan Vanderburg.
Skipper Weldele said, "We had very good fishing for yellowtail on The Ridge. There's good tuna down below and good wahoo at Alijos Rocks."
The best wahoo was a 69.6-pounder caught by Paul Banta of Ontario on an orange and black Catchy Tackle Spinnerhead. Banta shared in the taking of a 192-pound tuna on a sardine and a 5/0 Gamakatsu hook and 60-pound Izorline XXX and 80-pound Spectra. He used a Penn 10 KG reel and a Seeker 6460 rod. and posed with both fish for a lineup shot.
Gene Karela of San Clemente got an 81-pound tuna for first place, and won an Avet two-speed reel.
Jeff Larson of San Fernando Valley won second place for a 76-pound tuna, and got a Seeker Black Steel rod for a prize, and Glenn Ueda of Rancho Cucamonga won third place for a 58.6-pound tuna. He got a new Accurate titanium pliers for his fish.
Also fishing aboard Q-105 was Richard Wilson, who has been angling for 72 years.
