Supplemented by 6000lbs of rainbow trout, limits were caught left and right. Chrome and gold colored Kastmasters, bronze/black Rapalas, 3in. trout, worms, mice tails, and trout dough from chartreuse to red/white/blue were the popular trout baits thiw week. The CD-7 bronze Rapala hooked the winning trout of 9.8lbs. Mackerel, crawlers and bloody shad dough brought in the most catfish in Cachuma Bay and Johnson's. The bass hit cranks and senkos well throughout the day but only a 3+ pounders were weighed in over the weekend. Crappie and bluegill bit the best mealworms and white/chartreuse jigs back near Santa Cruz and the bank of Jack Rabbit Flats.

Many limits of bass were caught this week. With the water temperature in the mid 60's, ideal conditions for bedding bass, most were caught in the 5-15 range. Rattletraps, plastic worms, jigs, crankbaits and spinner baits did the trick. Though averaging 2.25 lbs, a few 4-5 lb. largemouth were caught in Cachuma Bay. The catfish bit the best in Johnson Bay and Clark Canyon on standard stink bait and worm set ups. Crappie were tougher to catch this week in......

The Crappie were caught all over the lake this week. Crappie nibbles on jigs, mealworms, and crank baits worked very well at the mouth of Clark's, Santa Cruz point, and off various branches and tree stumps around Jack Rabbit Flats and the cistern island. Most were caught in 5-12 ft of water with an average of 2 lbs. The bass hit well on cranks, nightcrawlers, senkos, and power minnows. Launch point and the east end of the Flats held smallies......
