http://www.silverlakeresort.netThe fishing at Silver Lake has been exceptional this past week if you like lunker size fish. If you like to catch the stockers, well, that side of fishing has not been as consistent lately. Part of the problem with the stockers is that DFW has not stocked the lakes in the loop since April 19th!!! We are on the schedule to be stocked this week which should help with the numbers of stockers being caught. Why we haven’t been stocked by DFW is beyond me but we are happy to see Silver Lake and all the lakes in the June Lake Loop on the list for this week. Ok enough ranting at DFW and back to the good news of the week!!! We have seen a large number of fish over 5 pounds this week and a crazy number of fish over 2 pounds. It didn’t seem to matter if you were fishing from the shore or from a boat, the lunkers where showing their heads this week. The bait of choice this week was Berkley Mice Tails in all colors. Worms also worked well this week taking them to the bottom and floating them back up off the bottom about 30″-36″. If you like trolling, Thomas Buoyant Gold/Red, Rapala’s in a Rainbow and Brown Trout Pattern, and Super Dupers saw some good results if you can get them a little deep. The weather has still been cold and stormy this past week but we didn’t get any snow which makes it stay a little warmer during the day, warm as in mid 40’s!!! The forecast for this coming weeks calls for chance of showers off and on all week. While that isn’t always great for the fishing, it is great for the water which we desperately need to help keep the lakes full throughout the summer. Fishing for the big boys should stay consistent as me move forward and we should be getting a load of Desert Springs fish this coming week and that should only add to the great fishing for the lunkers so come on up before summer gets here and enjoy the beauty of the area and some good fishing. Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!!! The Infamous Jerry Wedge of Santa Clarita hauled in these two great looking Rainbows fishing from the shore of Silver Lake using Berkley Mice Tails and the Rainbows weighing in at 4 pounds 5 ounces and 4 pounds 12 ounces. Jerry braved the cold and snow earlier this week, waking up well before the rest of his crew was stirring and was paid off beautifully with these two nice Rainbows. Jerry caught his two big ones from the shore at the bend in the road by the Road House Cabin.
