Trout solid at Shaver Lake

Trout bite remains solid. Black Rock and island areas have been good spots. As the water temperature cools, the fish are rising in column. The current surface water temperature is 67 degrees. Other boat anglers are trolling and finding fish on a variety of tackle. The still fishing boats have reported a few fish if they find a good area with structure and schools of fish. Same goes for those who are jigging from a boat. Nichols said the west end of the island has provided some action jigging 1 to 2 oz. spoons, with some left over kokanee grabbing a spoon now and then. Bank fishermen are hit or miss. Being in the right location can be a winner, but more bankies are not finding a lot of luck. Trout dough bait or crawlers are the best bait around roads 1 and 2 and the Sierra Marina. If all else fails says Nichols, grab some crickets and go to a rocky area and catch a bunch of smallmouth bass.
