East Walker River Fishing Report

The East is still flowing at about 20 cfs, the fishing remains pretty good all things considered. It seems that in the upper mile stretch there are still some nice rainbows hanging out, they're not catching very many fish in this stretch but they are very nice 3 to 5 pound fish. Below the bridge is producing very good numbers of fish, mainly browns, in the 12 to 16 inch range, some anglers are reporting 15 to 25 fish days. Most of the good reports we've had are from anglers fishing nymphs, though we have started to get some good reports on streamers and we even talked to one angler who wore out a few parachute hoppers one day saying he couldn't keep them off the line! (unfortunately he had no success on top the next day so it might be a bit hit and miss with dries!). We haven't heard much from the Nevada side lately but if we get any info we'll pass it on. Patterns that have been working: san juan worm, flashback emerger, wd-40, zebra midge, micro mayfly, z-wing caddis, fox's poopah, lafontaines sparkle pupa, zuddler, double bunny, sculpzilla, jj special.
