GENERAL CONDITIONS | Bass fishing continues to keep anglers busy with a lot bass reported getting caught.
Trout action is starting to heat up! Andrew Falk of Hayward caught his limit fishing near Indian Cove using nightcralwers.
Catfish also picked up a little too. Sean O’ Malley of San Leandro caught a nice 10 lbs. using hotdogs fishing near the Marina.
This fall we have planted around 3,000 lbs. of trout into Lake Chabot.
We will continue to plant trout on a weekly basis until the early summer of 2016.
Water temperatures continue to remain in the mid 60’s with about 4 feet of visibility.

Bass
Bass fishing has been steady for the last several weeks with some bass anglers catching and releasing good numbers. Reports of bass from 1 lbs. to 4 lbs. are coming in daily. If you are fishing for bass, the early mornings and in the evenings, mostly on plastics, jigs, hula grubs and top water will be your best bet. If you do want to try your luck a couple good spots to fish for bass are near the island or in bass cove.

Please practice catch and release for bass, as they are not stocked into the lake and their population depends on you!

Trout
Good News!!! So far this fall we have planted 3,000 lbs. of trout into Lake Chabot. A limit was reported getting caught fishing near Indian Cove using nightcrawlers. With the water temperature cooling down trout will become more active. Anglers trolling deeper are having a higher success coming back from Bass Cove going towards the Dam.

Until then check out our facebook page to keep updated on current fishing conditions.

Catfish
Catfishing had a rough year here at Chabot. We finally got a report of our first catfish whopper since June. Sean O’ Malley caught a nice 10 lbs. Catfishing using hotdogs fishing near the marina. We planted over a couple thousand pounds of channel catfish into the lake but only a few report of have came in all summer long. Typically catfishing this time of the year is fairly slow but with rain last week it might be enough to stir them up and make catfishing a little bit more active.
