On The Slow Side

Water is currently off color due to run-off at Big Springs. Conditions definitely better above Hot Creek, & the irrigation canals. No snow or ice here, with dry roads. Fishing remains on the slow side; but some quality “Crowley Steelhead” are holding in the deepest sections. On the warmest afternoons you may see a few holdover fish sipping small mayflies. You will need to cover a bunch of water to locate the fish. Many of the sugar holes that have had bigs in them historically are void of fish thus far. I like a tandem nymph rig in the deeper pools using an assassin, FB PT, SJ worm, or crystal leech as the upper-use crystal eggs, or smaller Assassins as the dropper.
