Today was probably our slowest of the trip, but that’s not to say we didn’t catch some great fish. The morning dark bite was a little slower in materializing and in general did not produce the numbers we were spoiled by yesterday. Most of the fish today were in the 130 to 170 range with a couple of notable exceptions. Ken Kouchi had the best fish of the morning bite, with a 208. Once the sun came up the current died on us and it was a very slow pick for the rest of the day. Just before dark Vladimir Kustudic hooked a large and mean tuna on bait which he battled for nearly two hours before landing, and it weighed out at 252 to make it a two cow day for us. Also of note was a 170 landed by Jim Murray, who is on his second trip of this duration and this was his personal best. I also neglected to mention an estimated 170 caught by Mark Haag yesterday, who is on his first long trip, and that too was a personal best. Our weather is holding and one couldn’t ask for more pleasant fishing conditions than we’ve been having. After a couple of nights off, we’re making bait tonight and will get right back to work tomorrow morning. Great food and good times seem to be never ending on this trip and we still have a ton of fishing time left to accomplish further great things.

POEM OF THE DAY

I hooked a swordfish at 10
Fought it till day light but then
My reel seized and froze
So despite how it goes
The sword CAN be mightier than a Penn!
