This weekend one angler in the afternoon hooked a 2.5 lb large mouth right in front of lil’ cachuma bay. She was using a plastic swim jig with a neon painted tail and was working the drop off and rocks. In the same area she also caught a 8lb carp using a neon rattle trap working the same drop off’s. Other than that fishing has been slow this week, other than a few catfish caught from shore with night crawlers and mackerel.
Best area for cat fish still being in the back of coves and along mud lines.

While we wait for the first trout plant of the year, it’s a good time to get your fix of catfish and bass. Fishermen targeting those cats continue to have similar success from both the shore and by boat. Garlic soaked mackerel and live worms are essential baits to use for these 1-31 channel catfish.
