Wild Horse is ice free south of the island off of the state park boat ramp and has plenty of open water for fishing in the rest of the lake. The wind is starting to break up the ice and it won’t be long before this lake is ice free and may even be ice free by the time you read this. The lake level continues to come up and the water is almost six or seven feet up the state park boat ramp. A small boat could be launched now. The dock is not in the water. Anglers should expect fishing to be slow, following two years of no stocking, even though 10,000 trout were stocked last fall. With improved water levels expect stocking to start sometime in April or early May.
