Those venturing out have found a modest improvement for salmon off the ’S” bout and about 12 miles off seal rock. The top Chinook weigh from 10 to 12 pounds with about a fish per rod average. Charter boats scratching limits of rockfish and ling cod for their clients along with limits of Dungeness crab.
Note: The ocean salmon season closes July 15 for recreational anglers south of Pigeon Point, including the ports of Santa Cruz, Moss Landing and Monterey Bay. The reason: To protect winter run Chinook that migrate through the Delta region in summer.
