The weather this week has been beautiful with temperatures in the mid 80s and peak temps. around 93 to 95 degrees. Water temp. is sitting at a warm 72 degrees causing most fish to go into deeper water. We did not receive any fish plants but will this week. The hot bite this week has been Catfish with many anglers reporting catches. Most people are catching them from 3 to 7 lbs, a few anglers got into the 15 lbs range. Best baits to use is either Anchovies or Sardines If you target them look for cover as in fallen trees or weed beds, the more cover the better.

Stripe Bass are still being caught out in Heron Bay in about 20 to 30 feet of water.

Most Stripe Bass are being caught off of the sandy beaches. Best baits to use would be either Chicken Liver, Anchovies, or Mackerel. If you like throwing lures try using deep diving jerkbaits like Lucky Craft, Yo-Zuri, or Rat-L Traps.

Black Bass are post spawn with males and females protecting their babies. If you target and catch a Black Bass please carefully release them so they can protect their babies and we can regrow the population for future generations to come. Look for tulle patches, fallen trees and any type of cover. I would recommend using artificial worms, Senkos or Roboworms, You can also try crankbaits or Rat-L-Traps.

Trout have really slowed down due to the warm water. Very few anglers have had any luck catching Rainbows. We recommend finding a deep cove and soaking some garlic Power Bait. You may also try trolling either a small spinner or a small Jerkbait.

Frank Lomeli from Sacramento on 5-13-2016 caught 1 Black Bass. It weighed in at 5.8 lbs. He was using glitter plastic Worms and fishing in the south end.

Kenny Khu of Livermore on 05/13/2016 caught one Catfish. It weighed in at 11 lbs, he was using Anchovies fishing in Swallow Bay.

Vi Bui of San Jose on 5/15/2016 caught one Trout. It weighed in at 2.6 lbs. She was using Power Bait fishing near the Dam.
