https://convictlake.com/Catch of the Week: Tim Mascarenas and friends from Murietta, CA had a great day of fishing a the payoff of a full stringer. The "catch of the week" was a fat 6 pound 8 ounce Rainbow caught along the North Shore. A Rapala was used to land this lunker. Sorry for cutting the bottom of the fish off in the photograph but trust me it was a big fish. Way to go, Tim!
Other notable catches this week:
Gerritt and Harley Wallace of San Diego, CA caught four stout Rainbows. The largest was 6 pounds 4 ounces and the second was 4 pounds. The Wallaces were using Nightcrawlers and they were fishing near the Inlet.
Duane Meurs of Placentia, CA hooked into a 5 pound 3 ounce Rainbow using a Nightcrawler. Duane was fishing the Inlet.
Paul Jeppson from Reno, NV with a fat 4 pound Rainbow that he landed while fishing the South Shore. Paul used a Roostertail to bring this great catch home.
Kaitlyn Wilkens from Moorpark, CA caught a 3 pound 8 ounce Rainbow using a Red Mira Shad. She was fishing at the South Shore.
Lilah, Kaylynn and Robert Shott from Wildomar, CA with another full stringer. They were fishing all over the lake using Mice Tails.
Tactics/Bait: This week a variety of lures were working. Here is a list of the best of the week:
Kastmasters, Roostertails, Panther Martins, Rapalas and Mira Shads. The top jig was Mice Tails. Beside Powerbait, both Nightcrawlers and Pinched Crawlers were the hot baits. The top Powerbait colors were Rainbow and Salmon Egg. In the creek try salmon eggs, small spinners or Marvel Flies. Also give chocolate covered pretzels a try. I like them so I bet the fish will too. The hot locations this week were the Inlet and surrounding areas. Alternative locations to try would be the South Shore, North Shore, Jetty/Outlet Area and Hangman's Tree.
Here is a list of other baits/lures that can be productive: Panther Martins, Tasmanian Devils, green or brown Marvel Fly Lures, Kastmasters, NeedleFish, Roostertails, and garlic scent on Powerbait.
Here is a list of recommended flies:
Dry Flies: Adams, Female Adams, Cutter's Caddis, Elk Hair Caddis, Stimulators, Black/Red Ants, Sierra Bright Dot, Royal Coachman and Hoppers.
Streamers: Wooly Bugger (black, brown, olive, or green), Mutuka (black, brown, olive, or green), Hornberg, and Muddler Minnows.
Wet Flies(Nymphs): Prince Nymph, Flashback Pheasant Tail, Hare's Ear, Zebra Midge (red and black), Copper John (red and copper) and San Juan Worm (brown or red).
