The Royal Polaris fishing report for November 9 read: "Our weather continues to be outstanding. It was like a lake out here today. Flat seas, warm days, good fishing, and good company, what more could you want. We had excellent fishing today. The Yellowfin were on the go. The Yellowfin were in the 22 to 35 pound category, with a few going 45 to 60 and on fish that might go over the century mark. The lucky angler today was Tracy Kuroye, of Blackwater tackle. Tracy landed a beautiful fish, right at the 100-pound mark. We are now moving north, and we will try our luck at some kelp fishing for Wahoo and Dorado."

When skipper Roy Rose weighed the fish, the crowd cheered when Tracy Kuroye's yellowfin rolled up numbers to 104.8 pounds. Tracy described the action during the catch.

"When it bit, it took off, straight away from the stern. We all knew it was big by the way it ran. Then it went down. It took me around the boat once and I fought it for 25 minutes."

Tracy baited her tuna with a mackerel on a 5/0 ringed Super Mutu hook. She's a company rep for Blackwater, and so was using 100-pound Blackwater fluorocarbon leader and Blackwater 80-pound Spectra, on an Accurate 30 reel and a Calstar 6460 XH rod built by Yo's.

Roger Bill of San Diego was second, for a 75.7-pound tuna, and Chico Leonard of Alpine was third, for a 73.4-pound yellowfin. Steve Cowen of Corona landed a 67.5-pound grouper, he said, after it took a six-pound skipjack.
