https://convictlake.com/Get ready for a trophy trout stocking! The county will be stocking on Tuesday, July 19th. Even in the heat of summer, folks are coming up with full stringers and quality size fish. Like always it helps to get deep. It never hurts to get out on a boat to cover more ground and reach the deeper pockets off the shelves.
Catch of the Week: Adam Velasquez with the "Catch of the Week" landed at the Inlet. This lunker was a 6 pound 14 ounce Rainbow caught with a Nightcrawler. Nice catch, Adam!
Other notable catches this week:
Wendi Crawbuck from Rancho Cucamonga, CA with a fat 3 pound 2 ounce Rainbow. She was fishing the South Shore using Garlic Powerbait. The key to this catch was the fact she was using her pink Masters rod and reel.
Helen Elliker of Alta Loma, CA hooked into a 2 pound 9 ounce Rainbow using Power Eggs. She was fishing near the Inlet.
Justin Pointer caught a beautiful 1 pound 13 ounce Rainbow using Garlic Powerbait. He was fishing along the South Shore.
Charlie, Robby and Colin from Rancho Cucamonga, CA with a hefty stringer. They were fishing the Outlet using Powerbait and Inflated Nightcrawlers.
Tactics/Bait: This week nothing too fancy was reported besides the old standard baits of Powerbait and inflated nightcrawlers. The top Powerbait colors were Red and Rainbow. As always Garlic Powerbaits increase your chances. In the creek, try salmon eggs, small spinners or Marvel Flies. The hot location this week was the Inlet. Alternative locations to try would be the Inlet, North Shore, South Shore, Jetty/Outlet Area and Hangman's Tree.
Here is a list of other baits/lures that can be productive: Panther Martins, Tasmanian Devils, green or brown Marvel Fly Lures, Kastmasters, NeedleFish, Roostertails, and garlic scent on Powerbait.
Here is a list of recommended flies:
Dry Flies: Adams, Female Adams, Cutter's Caddis, Elk Hair Caddis, Stimulators, Black/Red Ants, Sierra Bright Dot, Royal Coachman and Hoppers.
Streamers: Wooly Bugger (black, brown, olive, or green), Mutuka (black, brown, olive, or green), Hornberg, and Muddler Minnows.
Wet Flies(Nymphs): Prince Nymph, Flashback Pheasant Tail, Hare's Ear, Zebra Midge (red and black), Copper John (red and copper) and San Juan Worm (brown or red).
