Captain Steve Gawitt aboard the Aztec are at the beginning of a 1.5 trip with 25 passengers and are off to a fantastic start this morning! Captain Gawitt just called in and he reported they already have 24 Yellowfin Tuna onboard the Aztec in the 75-100 pound class. With plenty of fishing time left in the day to gather more fish, this trip is going to be another good one.
The Cortez and the Pacific Star have both returned this morning from 2.5 day trips with a great batch of fish. Together they brought to the dock nine Bluefin Tuna, 22 Yellowfin Tuna and 11 Dorado. Additionally, they had a mix bag other nice fish, Yellowtail and really good size Calico Bass.
News just in from the Pacific Voyager, they have 35 more Yellowfin onboard for their day 3 of 3. The majority of this batch of fish have been taken on the 20 lbs. line and size 2 hooks with a few on the small to medium size poppers.
The San Diego on its ¾ day offshore run today are in the fish already this morning, with 11 Yellowfin Tuna and one Bluefin Tuna onboard. Take note, a shorter ¾ day charter on the San Diego or Sea Watch might be a very good option for your charter group. Call Seaforth Landing for information (619) 224-3383.
If you’re planning to make an offshore trip fishing for tuna, please take the captain's suggestion of making sure you bring the right tackle. They are recommending 20-25 lbs. outfits and 1-2 size hooks. For the larger grade fish, have a heavier outfit available to you at 50 lbs. and up. The correct gear will definitely increase your odds of bringing your hook up back to the dock.
The time to come fishing in now. Come on out and have fun on the ocean. Checked the schedule at Seaforthlanding.com for upcoming trips and reserve your spot early.
