TRUCKEE RIVER FLOWS @ Boca 285 cfs @Farad 298 cfs @Reno 281 cfs
Last weeks warming trend really improved the fishing on the Truckee. The fish are still in their slower water Wintertime hangouts but the warmer weather has helped to spur on a little bug activity that gets the fish feeding in the afternoon. The best bet is to dead drift small nymphs deep under a strike indicator but we've also been catching fish on streamers and we've even had some dry fly fishing over the past couple of days. The dry fly fishing is very localized, Arlo and Andy from the Reno Fly Shop fished together last week and they found a twenty yard stretch of water that had a few rising fish. After catching a few Arlo and Andy hiked an additional mile or two of stream and saw no other groups of rising fish. So, if you find a fish or two rising don't go looking for a spot where there are more fish because you probably won't find them.
