Trout fishing in streams is open until Oct. 31. Fishing with bait is now allowed in streams above tidewater.

Anglers have been trolling for Chinook salmon on the lower Coquille River up to Bear Creek. Fishing for salmon has been very sporadic this past week. A few hatchery coho have been caught in the lower Coquille. There is no season this year for wild coho in the Coquille but anglers may harvest hatchery coho.

Fishing for smallmouth bass has been good in the mainstem and South Fork Coquille. Jigs, crawdad crankbaits, and nightcrawlers will all work to catch smallmouth bass.

Anglers have been catching a few legal striped bass in the Coquille upstream from the town of Coquille.

Crabbing has been decent for boat crabbers across from Bandon in the lower Coquille. Crabbing will continue to improve in the next few months.
