OPEN Seven Days a Week
Park Hours: 6:00am -- 7:00pm; all water craft must be off the lake by 6:30 pm.
There has been a positive test for blue-green algae in and around the swimming area. Park visitors should be watchful of their dogs, taking care that they do not contact the water. Currently our boat ramp and fishing pier are both open.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOU MUST BE 100 FEET AWAY FROM THE FISH TUBE, THE BOAT DOCK, AND THE BEACH AREA while fishing from the shore and from a boat. Also, note that the use of lead fishing tackle is prohibited at Quarry Lakes. You can exchange lead tackle at the kiosk in a “1 for 1” trade for stainless steel weights.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
The weather has been fluctuating between warm days and rainy days. However, the mornings have been noticeably cooler and the water temperature seems to be going down.
CATFISH
Catfish have slowed some, but there have been a few caught this week. We had a few caught off of the ADA pier and some along the backside of Horseshoe lake. In most instances the catfish were biting on trout bait.
TROUT
The trout bite has been fairly consistent this past week. We had a few weeks of successive plants at the beginning of the month. It was still fairly warm and there weren’t a whole lot of trout caught. It seems with the cooling of the temperature the trout have begun to feed again. Try fishing from the peninsula or from fisherman’s row. More adventurous angler could try heading out to the far side of Horseshoe Lake near the old boat ramp or the wood steps.
BASS
Bass bite had been fairly slow. Not too many anglers have reported catches, but Rainbow Lake would be your best bet for finding a few bass.
