GENERAL CONDITIONS

Great weather the last week of October made for good fishing. The lake being full also probably has something to do with all the fish being caught. Water temp has dropped to mid to low 60's and the lake is still full. Lots of rain this week which is a good thing. The hills are already turning green and the wildlife is starting to return into the park. We are still getting trout plants, CDFW planted 2500 lbs at the public launch on Halloween around noon. Fishermen have already started to catch those fish.

All in all, the fishing is off the hook (no fishing pun intended) up here at Del Valle. So come up and see us and rent a boat so you can go get that monster of your dreams. Wednesdays are 50% off all rentals on at least 4 or more hours. Good Luck!

CATFISH

Catfish are still eating bait, worms are the bait of choice at the moment. When the creek starts to flow we will see alot of cats coming in, even off of lures when the weather and creek flow are in harmony.

TROUT

Many fishermen have caught their limit of trout from the East Beach. Kastmasters and Power Bait brand trout baits have been the hot ticket. Power bait eggs and worms are deadly for shore fishing along with good ol’ night crawlers. Most fishermen will fish power bait off the bottom with a 2 foot leader, but don’t be afraid to float a worm under a bobber. Sometimes simplicity can be the answer to your prayers. Bugs, worms and native baits can also be the trick if the bite is slow or even off. Anglers are catching trout on a variety of lures from a simple worm under a bobber to spinners like rooster tails and panther martins. The most effective being a 1/4 oz. silver kastmaster.

BASS

Large and Smallmouth bass are eating flukes and swim jigs along with chatter baits and top water. No bass catches reported.

STRIPED BASS

Striped bass are still eating shad in semi-shallow water about 10 feet deep. Fishermen are favoring flukes and swimbaits for now. When we get deeper into winter we will see big striper on rainbow swimbaits as the trout population goes up.
